Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SafeEyes Buddy mobile application ("the app"). By creating an account or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. What SafeEyes Buddy does

SafeEyes Buddy uses the device's front camera to estimate the distance between the user's face and the screen, and plays an alert when the screen is held closer than a limit you configure. It also tracks screen-time statistics and provides habit-building features: an on-screen character that reacts as the screen gets closer, and streaks, stars and badges earned for good sessions. Camera images are processed on the device and are never stored or transmitted — see our Privacy Policy.

2. Not a medical device

Important: SafeEyes Buddy is a general-wellness and parental-assistance tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any disease or condition, and it is not a substitute for professional eye care. Distance estimates are approximations. Screen-time figures shown in the app reference publicly available guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics; they are informational only. Always consult a qualified professional about your child's vision and health.

3. Who may use the app

Accounts may only be created by adults — a parent or legal guardian. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for supervising any use of the app by your child. The app is an aid, not a guarantee: it cannot replace adult supervision, and you remain responsible for your child's device use and safety.

4. Your account

You sign in with a Google or Apple account. Keep your sign-in credentials secure. You may delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Data → Delete account) or as described on our account deletion page.

5. Subscriptions

Some features require a paid subscription. Prices and plan lengths are shown in the app before you buy.
Payment is charged to your Google Play or Apple App Store account at confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Google Play or App Store subscription settings. Canceling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period.
Refunds are handled by Google Play and the Apple App Store under their respective policies.
If a price changes, you will be notified in accordance with the store's rules before the change applies to you.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

use the app to monitor any person without appropriate consent or legal authority — it is intended for parents monitoring their own children's screen habits on devices they control;
reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the app;
interfere with or disrupt the app or its services;
use the app in violation of any applicable law.

7. Intellectual property

The app, including its design, code, and content, is owned by the developer and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that distance estimates are precise, that alerts will always trigger (device manufacturers may restrict background activity), or that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim arose.

10. Termination

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 2, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer rights you have under the mandatory laws of your place of residence.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
